Community Service...

Because our doctors live and work where we practice, we are committed to community service. Our doctors frequently volunteer their time to benefit the youth in our area.

In the past, our doctors have been guest speakers at local schools and have sponsored local youth activities. Our doctors also serve as mentors for local students that are interested in pursuing optometry as a career. If you would like more information or if you would like one of our doctors to speak to your group or school, contact our office at 330-725-4680.

Career Day at Drs. Milburn in Medina

In April of 2006, Dr. Tim Milburn participated in the annual career day at A.I. Root Middle School.  Dr. Tim hosted Mallory, a seventh grade student interested in a career in the health professions.

Mallory received a crash course in ocular anatomy, advanced optics, and ocular pathology.

Mallory shadowed Dr. Tim for the day observing eye exams, learning how optometrists deliver care and she learned how our practices uses our optical lab to make glasses in the office.

Doctors Milburn and Milburn Visit Lakeview Elementary

Drs. Tim and Anna Milburn accepted an invitation on April 25, 2002 to speak to the students at Lakeview Elementary in Stow, Ohio. The doctors spoke to three classrooms about optometry as a medical profession and a possible career choice. The presentation included a discussion of ocular anatomy, definitions of ocular diseases, and a discussion of common vision problems. The presentation concluded with Dr. Tim Milburn dissecting a cow's eye for the students. In April of 2001, Dr. Tim made a similar presentation to the students of Heritage Elementary in Medina.

Clear Vision Little League Team Takes the Field Again in 2002

Drs. Milburn & Milburn are proud to sponsor the Medina Youth Baseball Association for the second straight year. Last year, the Clear Vision 11-12 year old little league squad had a great season with a 17-5 record. The doctors take an active role with the team, attending many of the games and offering each player a free eye exam during the season. Our office wishes the team good luck for a safe and fun summer of 2002.

Drs. Milburn & Milburn Volunteer to Screen Brunswick Varsity Football

Before the 2001 football season, our doctors volunteered to conduct a vision screening to the members of the Brunswick High School Varsity Football squad. While it is certainly no substitute for a comprehensive eye exam, a vision screening can detect many serious eye and vision problems. Our screening in Brunswick detect six players who needed further testing or treatment. Our doctors are available to screen all local sports teams, churches, and businesses. For more information contact our office at 330-725-4680.
